On 14th March 2024, Puttinu Cares, a Maltese charity who own the building, registered an application (P2024/0239/FUL) for a "change of use of existing staff hostel (sui generis) to temporary accommodation for Maltese residents receiving medical treatment in the UK and their families (sui generis), alongside provision of single storey roof extension, external and internal alterations; and associated new plant, parking, landscaping and related works".
Several residents of the Square have filed letters of objection. It is still possible to comment on this application:

On 11th July 2023, Royal UK Properties III LLC, the owner of the building, registered an application (P2023/2059/FUL) for "demolition of the existing building and erection of a 4-storey office (Use class Eg(i)) building, including associated cycle parking". In response, a large number of comments were filed by residents and organisations, including the Society.
As LBI failed to make a decision within the required time period, the owner of the building, on 15 April 2024 filed a Statement of Appeal on the grounds of non-determination:
